There are over 80 million visitors to Florida each year and over half of them head for Florida's Central region and in particular to Orlando and the theme parks. Others head for the beaches along the Atlantic Coast such as Cocoa Beach and Daytona Beach. OrlandoOne of the largest collection of resort hotels in Florida is in the Orlando area. This is not surprising when you consider all that Orlando has to offer with its amazing selection of theme parks and large conference centers. There are over 120,000 rooms in the Orlando area of which nearly 30,000 are situated within the Walt Disney World Resort Area alone. Both Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando have their own on-site resort hotels. The other major theme park in Orlando, SeaWorld does not have its own hotels but it does have arrangements with some local hotels on the southern end of International Drive. International Drive effectively runs North South with SeaWorld at the southern end, the Orange County Convention Center at its center and Universal Studios at the northern end. It is one of the main tourist and conference areas south of Orlando and has many hotels along its length ranging from small family run motels to major resorts such as The Peabody Orlando. Kissimmee and St. CloudSouth of Orlando lies Kissimmee and St. Cloud. This area owes its roots to cowboys and ranching but today is home to many hotels, condos and villas giving easy access to Walt Disney World and the other Orlando attractions. Cocoa BeachThere are several resorts on the Atlantic Coast in Central Florida. One of the best known is Cocoa Beach with its long stretches of golden sands. Daytona BeachIts neighbor, Daytona Beach is problaby better known for the world land speed attempts that used to take place on the long flat sands. Today, upwards of 100,000 students descend on Daytona Beach for Spring Break. |
