Walt Disney World Deluxe Resorts

The Deluxe Resorts are the jewels in the crown of Disney Resorts with many more amenities than the Value Resorts or the Moderate Resorts but at a price.

Most rooms have two double beds (some have a king sized bed) plus a small day bed and will comfortably sleep a family of five plus a small child (under 3) in a crib.

Rooms are generally larger that the Moderate Resorts and suites are available in most Deluxe Resorts.

Prices start from $215 per night for 2007 (and $225 for 2008) in the low (value) season at the cheapest Deluxe resort up to $910 in the holiday season (excluding taxes) in the most expensive Deluxe resort based on two adults in the room but prices do vary quite considerably by resort.

If you are looking for a proper hotel with full concierge and room service, multiple restaurants and are prepared to pay the price, then you cannot beat a Deluxe Resort.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is situated near the Animal Kingdom, Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, BoardWalk Inn, the Walt Disney World Swan and Walt Disney World Dolphin are all in the Epcot Resort area and Disney's Contemporary Resort, Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Polynesian Resort and Wilderness Lodge are all close to the Magic Kingdom.

There is much more variety in the Disney Deluxe Resorts and most give better access to the major theme parks.

They each have full table service restaurants, a pizza delivery service, a lounge bar and snack bars located by the swimming pools, gift shops and health clubs.

There are both adult and children's swimming pools with water slides and spas and there is also access to other activities such as boating.

Most of them are located on the edges of lakes and lagoons with sandy beaches.

Disney Seasons

For 2008, Disney have defined four seasons for their Deluxe Resorts as there is no Summer season for the Deluxe resorts (2007 seasons can be found here):

  • Value season runs from January 1 to mid February, from early July to early October and from late November to mid December
  • Regular season runs late March (after Easter) to early July and from early October to late November (after Thanksgiving)
  • Peak season runs from mid February until late March (after Easter)
  • Holiday season runs from mid December until the end of December

For the 2008 seasons, see the seasonality chart in the sidebar, or click here for a larger calendar (2007 charts can be found here).

Note that as of June 1, 2007 all Disney Resort hotels are smoke free and guests may only smoke in designated outdoor smoking areas. No smoking is permitted inside the hotels including guest room patios and balconies.
