The Value Resorts are Disney's most affordable resorts and are popular with families with small children and large groups such as high school parties.
The accommodation is more like that of a motel with exterior corridors and they do not have as many amenities as the Moderate Resorts and Deluxe Resorts but they are considerably cheaper.
If you are planning on spending a lot of your time at the parks, don't mind the noise of a lot of children, are not too fussed about fancy eating and are on a tight budget, then a Value Resort will probably suffice.
Most rooms have two double beds (not queens) and will sleep a family of four plus a small child (under 3) in a crib. You can upgrade to a room with a single king sized bed. If you have grown up kids you might consider renting two adjoining rooms or a Family Suite at Disney's All-Star Music Resort.
Prices start from $82 per night (2007/2008 prices) in the low season up to $141 in the holiday season (excluding taxes) based on two adults in the room and $179 to $285 for a Family Suite.
They are very large resorts with 1920 rooms in each of the All-Star Resorts and 2880 in the first phase of the Pop Century Resort. The second phase will have a further 2880 rooms bring the total rooms in Value Resorts to 11,500. Because of their size there can be a lot of walking involved around the resort.
The three original All-Star Value Resorts; the All-Star Movies Resort, the All-Star Sports Resort and the All-Star Music Resort are all clustered together near to Disney's Animal Kingdom and the newest Value Resort, the Pop Century Resort is situated between Disney-MGM Studios and Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.
Each resort consists of a number of three storey units with a different theme in each resort. They each have a food court instead of a table service restaurant, a pizza delivery service and snack bars located by the swimming pools. There are both adult and children's swimming pools and there is also an amusement arcade.
For 2008, Disney have defined five seasons for their Value Resorts (2007 seasons can be found here):

Note that as of June 1, 2007 all Disney Resort hotels are smoke free and guests may only smoke in designated outdoor smoking areas. No smoking is permitted inside the hotels including guest room patios and balconies.
