Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Resort

Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Resort is one of two Moderate Resorts in the Downtown Disney Resort Area, the other being the adjoining Port Orleans Riverside Resort and both are close to Downtown Disney and Epcot.

You can use the complimentary ferryboats along the Sassagoula River to reach the Downtown Disney Area.

Both resorts are themed on the Southern Mississippi region and are connected by waterways and winding pathways but the French Quarter Resort is only half the size of the Riverside Resort and hence is easier to get around.

When you arrive, you check in at a New Orleans style train station with an interior courtyard. The whole resort evokes memories of New Orleans with its cobblestone streets and courtyards awash with flowers. A major renovation was completed in the Spring of 2004.

Transportation to the Disney theme parks and water parks is by Disney motor coach.

Rooms

Standard rooms are around 314 square feet and will sleep 4 (plus a baby in a crib). Most rooms come with two double beds though rooms with a single king-size bed are available. An additional rollaway bed can be obtained for a nightly charge.

There are three different room rates: Standard View, Standard View but with a king sized bed and Waterside View which overlook the pool or the Sassagoula River.

Dining

Full table service is available at the Boatwright's Dining Hall, styled like a shipbuilders warehouse. This restaurant is located in the adjacent Port Orleans Riverside Resort, which is about a 15-20 minute walk away.

The Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory provides a Food Court offering both Creole and American dishes and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.

There is also the jazz-themed Scat Cats Club with live entertainment where you can get cocktails, soft drinks, and other specialty drinks.

Recreation

The large swimming pool is called the Doubloon Lagoon with alligator fountains and a large waterslide coming out of the mouth of a Mardi-Gras dragon styled float.

Close by is the Mardi Grogs Pool Bar which serves specialty drinks, soft drinks and snacks. There is also a childrens pool and a playground.

Bikes and a variety of watercraft can be rented to explore the local area.
