Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Resort is one of two Moderate Resorts in the Downtown Disney Resort Area, the other being the adjoining Port Orleans Riverside Resort and both are close to Downtown Disney and Epcot. You can use the complimentary ferryboats along the Sassagoula River to reach the Downtown Disney Area.
Both resorts are themed on the Southern Mississippi region and are connected by waterways and winding pathways but the French Quarter Resort is only half the size of the Riverside Resort and hence is easier to get around.
When you arrive, you check in at a New Orleans style train station with an interior courtyard. The whole resort evokes memories of New Orleans with its cobblestone streets and courtyards awash with flowers. A major renovation was completed in the Spring of 2004.
Transportation to the Disney theme parks and water parks is by Disney motor coach.
