Walt Disney World Resort Areas

The resort hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort are split into a number of areas (see sidebar for a resort map with details of where each resort hotel is located.

Most of the resorts are close to either the Magic Kingdom, Epcot or Disney's Animal Kingdom or near to Downtown Disney.

Unless you are planning to spend all of your time in a particular theme park it probably doesn't really matter which area you are in; you should choose your resort based upon the type of resort, the facilities you require and the room rates.

It is worth noting that the Contemporary Resort, the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and the Polynesian Resort have direct access to the monorail; all other resorts are served by either motor coaches and/or water taxis.

Disney Seasons

For 2009, Disney have up to six different seasonal rates for each Resort category depending upon the time of year.

Their cheapest rate is known as their Value season rate (low season), their next rate is the Regular season (mid season) and then they have four higher rates, their Summer season which is used by the Value and Moderate resorts only, Peak season; (high season) and then slightly higher rates just for the Easter and Christmas periods known as their Easter and Holiday seasons.

Disney Room Rates

Disney room rates are per room per night and are based on double occupancy; i.e. two adults sharing a room.
