Like the nearby Old Key West Resort, Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is also set in the Victorian era, only this time based on Saratoga Springs, upstate New York with an equestrian theme. It is one of the larger Vacation Club Resorts, covering some 65 acres with 18 separate accommodation units.

It first opened in 2004 and has been built in four phases. Unique to Walt Disney World is the last phase with the Treehouse Villas, set off the ground in the lush forest foliage.

Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is located south of Disney's Old Key West Resort and the moderate resorts, Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Resort and Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort.

It is less than 1.0 mile from Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park and about 0.5 miles from the Downtown Disney area. The Lake Buena Vista Golf Course and 36-hole Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course are both close by.

Rooms/Suites

The 828 villas have either a private porch or balcony and look out on to either woods, gardens, lakes, or waterways. Saratoga Springs recaptures the elegance of a turn of the century (late 1800s) New York spa town famous for its horse racing.

Rooms are suitable for between 4 and 12 people.

All the villas have kitchens or kitchenettes (Studio villas) with multiple bedroom units from studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom up to grand villas and Treehouse villas.

Studios are around 355 square feet and will sleep 4. They come with a queen-size bed and a double-size sleeper sofa.

The one-bedroom villas are 714 square feet and also sleep 4. The Master Bedroom has a king size bed with its own master bathroom and whirlpool tub. In the living room there is a queen-size sofa bed and a dining area.

The two-bedroom villas are a lot bigger with 1075 square feet and will sleep up to 8. The Master Bedroom has a king size bed with its own master bathroom and whirlpool tub. In the second bedroom there is a either a queen-size bed and a double-size sleeper sofa or two queen-size beds. In the living room there is a queen-size sleeper sofa.

The three-bedroom grand villas are bigger still at 2113 square feet and will sleep up to 12. They are on two levels unlike the smaller villas and each bedroom has its own bathroom. The Master Bedroom has a king size bed with its own master bathroom and whirlpool tub. In the second and third bedroom there are two queen-size beds in each. In the living room there is a queen-size sleeper sofa.

The unique Treehouse villas are 1074 square feet with three bedrooms and sleep 9. The Master Bedroom has a queen-size bed with its own master bathroom and whirlpool tub. In the second bedroom there is a queen-size bed and the third bedroom has a bunk bed. In the living room there is a queen-size sleeper sofa and a sleeper chair. As their name suggests, these villas are built amongst the trees some ten feet off the ground and they have a private deck on the second floor.

All villas have flat-screen TVs in the bedrooms and living rooms.

Dining

There are two restaurants and two lounges at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.

The Turf Club Bar & Grill overlooks the Buena Vista Golf Course and offers typical American cuisine such as grilled steaks, burgers, ribs, and seafood. It is open for lunch and dinner. There is also the Turf Club Lounge with a full-size pool table and bar.

The Artist's Palette is a counter service restaurant serving hot and cold food including salads, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, soup, and entrees as well as a on-site grocery store and bakery. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

There are two seasonal poolside bars, the main On The Rocks Pool Bar located at the High Rock Springs Pool and the Back Stretch Pool Bar at The Grandstand pool. The bars serve alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, light snacks, and also have a refillable mug station.

Recreation

The Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa has four heated pools. The main pool is the 161,000 gallon zero-entry, grotto-style High Rock Spring pool with rock-work, a water-slide, waterfalls and two spa tubs.

Three other pools can be found in the The Grandstand, The Paddock and Congress Park sections of the resort. There are also two children's play areas.

At the Win Place or Show Arcade near the main pool, you can play both classic arcade and the latest video games.

There is a Health Club at the Spa where you can work out on the latest exercise equipment including cross trainers, treadmills, stair steppers,  Life Fitness and full-circuit of strength equipment, and Smith machines or use the free weights.

Like Disney's Grand Floridian, Disney's Saratoga Springs also has a Spa where you can relax with an array of spa treatments including massages, body treatments, facials, and aromatherapy from single treatments to half and full-day sessions.

There are also two clay tennis courts, basketball and shuffleboard courts. Alternatively you can go on one of two jogging trails, either a 0.8 mile or 1.44 mile path.

The Community Hall provides board games, large screen TV, DVD rental, Foosball, shuffleboard, and table tennis plus various other activities.

If you want to rent a bike or sporting equipment, head for Horsing Around Recreation Rentals.

There are barbecue pavilions in the The Grandstand, The Paddock and Congress Park areas of the resort.
